Chili’s Biography
Chili Pepper is a native of ABQ from the West side of town. His Daddy was red and Mom was green, so his favorite holiday is, of course, Christmas. Chili has always worked hard in school, getting good grades, but he never forgot the importance of play and exercise for kids of all ages. Being both hot and cool Chili thought he could help his home town friends by creating a place where they could play in a fun and healthy way. He thought about it in summer, when it was too hot and sweaty to go outside – he didn’t want his friends to be roasted. And Chili thought about it in winter when it was so teeth-chattering cold that there was no way to go outside with out freezing. What to do?
Then Chili had a brilliant idea. Duke City is in the dusty, dry Southwest so people here love water. What if they could play all year round in, say, a ‘Water Park’?! Perfect! And so the Radisson Hotel & Water Park was born. Chili is cool so he just calls it the ‘WP’, though. After 4 years of planning and construction his dream came true with all of New Mexico, and her neighboring states, thrilled the Park is finally open. The Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, even declared the WP’s opening day, March 12th, 2010, Splashtastic Day throughout this great state. It also happens to be Chili’s birthday, so every year we will celebrate both the opening of the WP and Chili’s birthday on the same weekend.
